Flourishing
Rachad El Halabi, the son of Mohamad El Halabi, decided to further grow the business. That was at the time when the rule of the Ottoman empire in Lebanon has ended, and the French opened the country to new markets. Because of Tripoli’s strategic location, it flourished and became one the most important cities in the Middle East and an essential destination for trading. In 1919, Rachad El Halabi relocated his store to Saraya Atika, which is the Central District of Tripoli
In this new location, Rachad El Halabi’s business thrived thanks to his father’s name in the first place, in addition to his new approach of important textiles from neighboring countries. At that time, importing goods and products was not common. Hence, this allowed him to distinguish himself from the other merchants in Tripoli.
