Mohamad El Halabi (1884-1919)

Founding

In the 1890’s, at the time when Mohamad El Halabi had already established a name for himself in the old city of Aleppo, he relocated to Lebanon and started a business of curtains, fabrics, and textiles in the old part of Tripoli called “Khan El Khayateen”. In fact, Tripoli is the second capital of Lebanon and is a hub for trade and business for traders and customers from all over Lebanon and Syria. Accordingly, Mohamad El Halabi’s store rapidly grew and became renowned for its commitment to offer the best and trendiest fabrics and designs in the world of textiles.

The Store

Located at the heart of the lively Khan El Khiyatin Bazaar, El Halabi store was at the entrance of the grand Khan of Tripoli. From the entrance, you could see a central space with an arched stone formation and staircase leading to the second floor.
